The 15 nonfiction stories published in the All That Glitters (Lominy Books; $15.00), recount lives and identities unsettled by the scary, but irresistible pursuit of truth. Also included are interviews with award-winning nonfiction writers, including Susan Orlean and Dinty W. Moore.

At the Miami Book Fair International on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 8301 (building 8, 3rd floor), local authors Andrea Askowitz, Jan Becker, M. Evelina Galang, and Nicholas Garnett will be reading from the book. Editor Fabienne Sylvia Josaphat and M.J. Fievre will be in charge of the Q&A after the reading.
Andrea Askowitz is the author of My Miserable, Lonely, Lesbian Pregnancy. Her stories have appeared in the New York Times, Salon.com, Jewcy.com, and NPR. She teaches memoir writing at Lip Service Institute. She is creator of Lip Service: true-stories out loud. She’s at work on a book of stories currently titled, Listen to This or maybe Don’t You Know I’m Famous? Andrea grew up in Miami where she lives with her wife Victoria and children Natasha, Sebastian and Beast.

Jan Becker‘s writing has appeared in Sliver of Stone, The Florida Book Review, The Circus Book, Brevity Poetry Review and Emerge. She is a regular contributor to Selfies in Ink, an online writing and art project.

Evelina Galang is the author of Her Wild American Self (Coffee House Press, ’96); the novel One Tribe (New Issues Press, ’06); and Angel De La Luna And The 5th Glorious Mystery (Coffee House Press 2013). She has edited the anthology, Screaming Monkeys: Critiques of Asian American Images (Coffee House Press, ‘03). She is currently writing Lolas’ House: Women Living With War, stories of surviving Filipina WWII “Comfort Women” and is at work on a new novel, Beautiful Sorrow, Beautiful Sky.
M. Evelina Galang
Nicholas Garnett received his MFA in Creative Writing from Florida International University, where he teaches creative writing. He’s also a frequent instructor for the Center for Literature and Theatre at Miami Dade College, and nonfiction editor of the literary journal Sliver of Stone. Nicholas is a recipient of residencies from the Vermont Studio Center and the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, and a scholarship to the Norman Mailer Writing Colony. His writing has appeared in Salon, Sliver of Stone, R-KV-RY Quarterly, and The Florida Book Review. His work has been anthologized in Sundress Publications’ “Best of the Net” and Cleis Press’ Best Sex Writing of 2013.
Nicholas Garnett
Fabienne Sylvia Josaphat is the author of Requiem pour Anaise, a novel published in Nice, France in 2002. Her short stories have appeared in various journals and magazines, including The Masters’ Review, Mandala Journal, Small Axe Literary Journal and The Caribbean Writer. Fabienne is currently working on an MFA in Creative Writing at Florida International University, and working on publishing her first novel in English.
