Mahalia’s Kale Chips

Another delicious recipe from Mahalia’s kitchen.

Want something both yummy and healthy? What about kale chips?

Kale or borecole is a vegetable with green or purple leaves, in which the central leaves do not form a head. It is considered to be closer to wild cabbage than most domesticated forms.

So, whatcha need?

  • A bunch of kale

  • 2 tablespoons of Olive oil

  • Sprinkle of sea salt

What you do:

  • Rinse Kale and rip into 2 inch pieces, removing spine. Dry completely between paper towels.

  • Place in a bowl and toss with oil.

  • Lay in a single layer on a baking sheet.

  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or so. Keep an eye on it. It will start browning and be crispy like chips.

  • Sprinkle salt on it while hot. Serve immediately.

Note from Mahalia: I have added salt to the water when rinsing the leaves. That worked as well. When I added salt when I tossed in the olive oil, I noticed it clumped leaving some pieces super salty and others dry.
